Sunday Pre-Conference Agenda

Build on to your regular conference agenda with an extra, supplemental study tour or experience. These sessions will set the stage for the topics, conversations, and questions you can expect to see during the main conference program.

These programs have an additional cost, and registration will open shortly. Please note that transportation to and from the downtown Victoria Conference Centre is included.

Urban Downtowns: OUR DWTN Walking Tour, 3 pm - $30

The City of Victoria’s OUR DWTN Revitalization Program is investing in the downtown core with a focus on beautification, programming, cleaning and enhanced safety, and the activation of downtown spaces. Spanning nine departments, and with numerous projects intersecting, hear how this program is not only providing safety and enjoyment to downtown’s visitors, but has also contributed to additional collaboration and a new sense of pride and ownership of the downtown among City staff.

Join us for a walking tour to see some of the initiatives firsthand, learn about the positive impacts so far, and hear future plans for this program.

Downtown Service Providers Tour 1- 3 pm- $50

This tour will showcase the work of social service providers in Victoria. Participants will meet with providers, tour facilities, and experience the operations of a wide variety of service providers, from health services for vulnerable residents, to community services for families. Victoria, like many other cities, has a unique, diverse, and adaptive group of organizations that provide exceptional services, care, and opportunities to residents. Transportation will be provided.

Greater Victoria Urban Port Tour, 1-3pm - $30

Join this walking tour to visit the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority's deep water terminal. A key part of Victoria’s working harbour, the Breakwater District at Ogden Point is Canada's busiest cruise port of call, supporting cruise ships and a wide range of other types of commercial operations. The tour will reveal how the terminal works and describe how the maritime economy supports Greater Victoria. Come prepared with good walking shoes and a strong coat- it gets windy by the ocean!

Banquet at the Songhees Wellness Centre, 6:30pm - $90

To wrap up the day of pre-conference activities and start the Community Safety and Wellbeing conference in a good way, join conference attendees for a banquet on Songhees First Nation Territory. This can’t-miss opportunity will bring attendees to the Songhees Wellness Centre for a modern spin on traditional Lekwungen food, and showcase Indigenous knowledge and culture. Transportation to and from the Centre is included.
